Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Ibrahim Awad Saleem Rafidi 77 is set for 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, Father Mario Solarzano officiating, with Burial in the Valley Of The Dogwood cemetery.

Abe died October 13, 2016 peacefully at his home. He was born July 21, 1939 in Palestine, to the late Awad Saleem and Nimeh Yousef Rafidi. Abe really lived the American Dream. He came to this country from Palestine in 1958 with very little money. He was seventeen years old, away from his family for the first time. He could not imagine having enough money to return for a visit to his homeland.

He worked his way through college in Lafayette, Louisiana. He met his wife, Tommie, and they married shortly after graduation from University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1962. They had two children, Ray and Leslie, and the family moved to Corinth in 1965. Abe went to work at Southbridge Plastics where he worked for thirty-eight years as a chemist.

After fourteen years, he was able to go back to Palestine to see his family taking his wife and children with him. Even though some are on opposite sides of the world, because of technology, the family is able to be closer than ever. That has always been important to him. Abe was always grateful to his adopted country and especially his adopted hometown. "Corinth has been good to us. I won't live anywhere else!"

Preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Tommie Green Rafidi of Corinth, MS., son Ray Awad Rafidi (Jonanne) of Plano, TX., daughter Leslie Namie Crawford (Stewart) of Madison, MS., brothers Naser Rafidi, Zahi Rafidi both of Corinth, MS., Riad Rafidi of Ramallah, Palestine., sisters Raheel Baba, Naheel Kawaja both of Houston, TX., Siham Sakran of Porter, TX., Asmahan Kashou of Ramallah, Palestine., Wafa Hsu of Corinth, MS., grandchildren Michael Rafidi, Nicole Rafidi, Kaitlyn Crawford, Chase Crawford.

Family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 at St. James Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. James Catholic Church or The Heifer Project.
